Most high-demand careers require education or training beyond a high school diploma. The courses selected in high school directly impact college admission opportunities, financial aid eligibility, and workforce options after graduation.
According to the Texas Education Agency Graduation Toolkit, earning the Distinguished Level of Achievement:
- Allows students to compete for Top 10% automatic admission eligibility at any Texas public university
- Positions students among those first in line for a TEXAS Grant1 to help pay for university tuition and fees
- Ensures students are more competitive applicants at selective colleges and universities

Requirements
The Distinguished Level of Achievement builds on the Foundation High School Program and includes:
- Four credits in mathematics, including Algebra II
- Four credits in science
- Completion of at least one endorsement

Note: A student must earn the distinguished level of achievement to be admitted to a Texas public university under the top 10 percent automatic admission law.
