Dual Credit Programs

Castleberry ISD offers dual credit, dual enrollment, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses to all high school students. The district partners with Tarrant County College, the University of Texas OnRamps program, and the College Board to provide access to rigorous college-level instruction and coursework.

OnRamps brings the college experience to the high school classroom, transforming how students learn and preparing them for college and career success. OnRamps courses are designed by The University of Texas at Austin faculty to replicate a rigorous, college-level learning experience and meet post-secondary standards of quality, depth, and complexity. As a number of OnRamps courses are offered over a full year, the concepts that would typically be covered in one semester can be deeply developed over a longer period of time to promote student learning.

Dual enrollment in high school and college courses allows students to experience college courses while also earning credit for high school courses at the same time.

College Credit Opportunities for High School Students

Castleberry High School students may be eligible to earn college credit while they are in high school by enrolling in dual credit courses and successfully completing the courses. Castleberry ISD (CISD) along with Tarrant County College (TCC), UT Permian Basin and Grand Canyon University engage in partnerships to provide students with the opportunity to participate in dual credit courses.

College faculty teach the Dual Credit courses, and the courses satisfy high school graduation requirements and provide college credit simultaneously.

Colleges with partnerships with Castleberry ISD will award credit on college transcripts for the institution of higher learning, and CISD will provide credit on the high school transcript upon successful completion of courses.

Tarrant County College (Trinity River Campus)

Tarrant County College's Dual Credit program is a way for high school student to earn college credit while attending high school. Dual credit students interested in college-level courses are encouraged to discuss enrollment and registration for TCC course work. The TCC courses are taught by fully credentialed faculty and when successfully completed, satisfy high school graduation requirements while providing college credit.

When Dual Credit students graduate from high school, they will have transferable college credits on an official Tarrant County College transcript.

Admissions Eligibility

In order to participate in dual-credit at Castleberry High School, students must meet the following requirements. 

• Must meet TSI eligibility requirements for college-level coursework
• Bacterial meningitis vaccine is required for students taking classes at any Tarrant County College campus
• Must earn a “C” or higher in each course attempted to remain eligible for dual credit coursework
